Edmond Rostand, author of Cyrano de Bergerac, planted the house of his dreams in a lush green setting. Walking around the Versaille garden, the walker will discover beds of flowering plants, pergolas and stretches of water. Inside this Neo-Basque style villa can be found an original collection of objects and works of art evoking the famous writer and his family through the 19-room newly restored house. Listed as a Historical Moneument and Museum of France. The Arnaga Gardens have also been honoured with the label "Remarkable Garden". Majestically laid out against the blue hills, the French-style garden unfolds at the foot of the residence like a theatre set, associating the three elements : mineral, plant life and water. Avant d’être un musée, Arnaga a été un rêve, celui d’un grand auteur du siècle dernier, Edmond Rostand. Cette demeure, il l’a ardemment souhaitée, imaginée et conçue dans ses moindres détails. La maison de style néo-basque apparaît traditionnelle à l’extérieur. L’intérieur est traité comme un somptueux décor de théâtre. 19 pièces se laissent découvrir sur deux niveaux où luxe se conjugue avec modernité puisqu’au début du 20ème siècle, la Villa disposait l’électricité, d’eau chaude et même d’une salle d’hydrothérapie. Les jardins qui l’entourent reflètent les états d’âme de leur créateur : jardin régulier « à la française » sur 2.5 ha à l’avant du domaine et reposant jardin « à l’anglaise » à l’arrière de la Villa. Arnaga est classé « Monument historique », labellisé « Jardin Remarquable », « Arbres remarquables » et « Maisons des Illustres ».
