Le fronton

Description

In every village in the Landes and the Basque country you will find this public space which is used for sporting events, festivals, mass...Vieux Boucau’s fronton is the largest in the Landes by its dimensions: 12m high, 14m wide and 90m long. The ‘pelota’ ball has to hit the wall (fronton) above the 80cm high orange zone and bounce on the ground in the ‘bottle’, which is formed on the ground by grey and brown zones. The vertical lines of the fronton (wall) are simply the prolongation of the game’s boundaries on the ground.
