supervised beaches : go for a swim !

The beautiful days are back and the desire to swim is felt. Yes, we understand you, the Atlantic Ocean is a great playground! In the Landes we have one of the biggest beach of Europe. This is a huge space that can be enjoyed safely and with care, because one cannot exist without the other.

This magnificent natural space requires our attention before we can fully enjoy it. Ah! the golden sand, sunbathing, swimming in the waves… Yes, but in the supervised swimming area, with the right sun cream and with a careful eye on the children’s activities!

It is important to swim in the supervised area, between the two coloured flags red and yellow. You will also recognize the lifeguards with their uniforms with the same colours as the flags. The Landes lifeguards are there to secure the swimming areas and make sure their are define the best and least dangerous place to swim..

Before swimming, remember to look at the colour of the flame located next to the first aid station.

🟩 Green flag : Swimming monitored, no particular danger

🟨 Yellow flag : Baignade surveillée danger limité ou marqué

🟥 Red flag : Swimming prohibited

And for surfing ?

Surfing is forbidden in the bathing areas which are strictly reserved for swimming. But, in the regulated water sport area (delimited by black and white checkerboard flags) the practice of aquatic activities such as bodyboarding or surfing is authorized.
